How do I find a vendor?

    To find a Vendor:

    1. In the vertical menu bar, select the Main section, and then click the Vendor Finder icon.
    2. In the Find Vendor frame at the top of the screen, enter your Criteria to find a specific Vendor or an entire list of Vendors that match your criteria.  You can enter as much or as little Criteria as you need to find the Vendors that you are looking for. For example:

      • To view all of your Vendors, do not enter any Criteria.  The Owner field will automatically default to your username, and clicking Find Now return all the Vendors assigned to you as the Owner up to the Maximum Record Count - Default is 50 Records. (See notes below regarding Max Record Count).
      • Depending on your security, you may only be able to view records where you are the assigned Owner. If the you have the View All Vendors right, you can select any Owner or click into the Owner control and press the Backspace key on your keyboard to blank out the Owner value, this will allow you to see the Vendor records for all Owners.
      • To find one specific Vendor enter the Company name (or the first few letters of the name) in the Company field.
      • To find one specific Vendor Contact, enter their First and/or Last name (or the first few letters of the name) in the First Name or Last Name field.
      • To find all vendors of a certain type (i.e., Real Estate Agents), select the type in the Type field. To narrow down your search further and only view your Real Estate Agents in the city of Torrance, select Real Estate Agent in the Type field and enter Torrance in the city field.
    3. Click Find Now.
    4. Any Vendors that match the criteria that you entered will appear in the grid. You can re-specify the criteria to rebuild the list. To view the details for a Vendor, double-click on their row in the results grid or highlight the Vendor and click Select.

    Max Record Count
By default, the maximum number of Vendors that will be returned on any search is 50. To view more than 50 Vendors, change the value in the Max Record Count field (located above the Find Now button) before clicking Find Now. For example, if you have roughly 9,000 records in your database, simply set the Max Record Count to 9,999 to bring back all your Vendor records. Typically the Vendor Finder is used to bring back records based on more specific criteria values, such as a specific date range and Vendor Type. If you are trying to determine how many records meet a certain criteria, it is quicker and easier to use the Show Count Only feature described below.

    Show Count Only
Show Count Only will allow you to view the total number of Vendors that match the Criteria that you have entered.  For example, to find the total number of Vendors in the database: clear out all of the Criteria fields, check the Show Count Only checkbox, and then click Find Now.  A message box will appear showing the total number of clients that match your criteria.

    Reset Fields
The Reset Fields button will set the Criteria back to the default settings.  If you have entered Criteria in the Find Vendor frame, you can click Reset Fields to clear out all of the Criteria fields and return to the default search criteria.

    Find Now - Append/Clear
There are two options for searching in the Vendor Finder screen:  Append, which will Append the results of the current search to any previous searches or Clear, which will clear out any previous search results prior to displaying the new results.  By default, Mortgage Manager will always Clear out any previous search results when the Find Now button is clicked and only display the results of the current search.  To Append your search results to a previous search, click on the Drop Down portion of the Find Now button and select Append and then click Find Now to run your search.
